Fantastic! What a thoughtful title! Let's encourage one another to move our conversation to here.
How do we encourage people to feel comfortable to join in?
First, respect everyone's point of view. You may challenge the idea, but DO NOT attack the person. I wrote earlier about my aversion for some Ghanaian blogs. They use their internet anonymity to hail the most vicious insults on one another.
Secondly, Kwasi send guidelines to the group on how to get involved (and use the blog). It is not enough to throw out the link. Some of us do not live in the internet geekdom.
Thirdly, let us create "hooks of ideas" in our comments to encourage others to tap in. For example, this conversation started with Technology & Ghana ... hooked to a personality some of us did not care about ... linked to a statement about American politics ... a short statement and a question about Obama led to ... Black leadership in America ... and so on.
Fourthly, DO NOT spell out the name of anyone in a defamatory context. It could be libelous.
Finally, a simple innocuous statement you post today may come up at your confirmation hearing as Secretary of State one day.
